True gratitude is thank you with meaning, a thoughtful and intentional way of showing appreciation. Tuning into a new way of sensing the world through the lens of gratitude. Described as the heart’s way of remembering, gratitude is heartfelt. It is a conscious choice to channel your energy into what’s present and working rather than what’s absent and ineffective. Expressing gratitude can have significant benefits for your health and wellbeing. Physically, it can support sounder sleep and may strengthen the immune system. Gratitude is a powerful antidote to toxic stress and destructive emotions such as envy, resentment and bitterness.
It is simply not possible to feel grateful and negative at the same time. It builds resilience to life stressors and strengthens your mindset. It helps to regulate emotion and provides the ‘glue’ to build new health habits. It boosts positive emotions such as optimism and kindness as well as improving relationship satisfaction. It connects you more closely with your values and supports spiritual wellbeing.
Learn how by focusing on selecting positive things that are good in your life, you undertake a process whereby you filter out the more irrelevant and negative aspects of your experience. This retrains your brain to reinforce the positive which overtime can lead to a real shift in your perspective and personal reality.
